It is with tenderness that I now recall that tiny island, undoubtedly one of the loveliest anywhere. I feel so utterly captivated by its pastoral beauty. It is an almost virgin land, hardly touched by the grimy hand pf civilization. The perfect landscape! That prodigious flora from which ths island derives its name.

Flores (Flowers) is the most western island of the archipelago. The island was discovered in 1450, by Diogo de Teive and his son João de Teive. Flores is without a doubt one of the most beautiful islands in the whole Atlantic. In the months of July and August, the island is covered with flowers (Hortênsias) of an intense blue. Flores has an area of 55 Miles² it’s capital is Santa Cruz located on its East coast.
