Faial, is a discreet and feminine island where the women often leave their weeding hoes and pitchforks in the fields in order to sew and knit. Their techniques are of the very best kind — the old kind. One of their huge quilts is as light as a feather.

Faial was discovered on the first half of the XV century. The island is also known as the "Blue Island", due to the immense quantities of blue flowers that grow in the summer months. It’s capital is the city of Horta, which offers an outstanding harbor that is a well known stop point for any sailboat crossing the waters of the Atlantic ocean.
